Australian Radiation Services Pty. Ltd. (ARS) is one of Australasia's leading health, medical and environmental physics service providers. We offer a range of radiation protection services to meet all radiation safety situations. There are seven business units covering sales, technical and consultancy services.
There are three technical services business units, namely Calibrations and Repairs, Personal Radiation Monitoring Service (PRMS), Analytical Services Group.
Technical Services
Calibrations and Repairs Services
The ARS calibration service is the only NATA accredited calibration service operating in private enterprise in Australia. All ARS calibrations are legal in an Australian court of law according to the National Measurement Act of 1960 Section 10. The service boasts two calibration rails with four 137Cs sources whose output is traceable to the Australian Primary Standard of Exposure. Radiation contamination monitors are calibrated using wide area reference sources whose surface emission rates are traceable to National Standards of Activity.
ARS has the sources, experienced staff and expertise to calibrate all types of radiation survey meters and monitoring equipment.
Personal Radiation Monitoring Service (PRMS)
ARS offer a variety of dosemeters to suit all radiation monitoring situations. They currently offer both film and TLD badges for whole body monitoring and also ring dosemeters for extremity monitoring of the hands. The dosemeters cover photon and beta radiations and neutrons. The film badge is ideal for the X-ray environment covering the photon energy range 15 keV to 180 keV. The TLD badge useful photon energy range is 15 keV to 3 MeV.
ARS also offer the latest type of "real" time radiation personal dosemeter, namely the instadose™. If you have a computer with internet access then the new instadose™ can be read out at any time by simply plugging the dosemeter into the PC with the internet software operating. This device will revolutionise the way personal radiation monitoring will be conducted in the future.
Analytical Services Group (ASG)
Radionuclide analysis of solids, liquids, flora and fauna can all be accommodated by the ASG. ARS has a variety of detectors ranging from several HPGe detector counting systems, to gross alpha / beta / gamma and alpha / beta counting systems. The Group can also undertake radon in air measurements using activated charcoal detectors and also radon in water measurements using liquid scintillation counting.
Consultancy Services
The consultancy services offered by ARS cover the health, medical and environmental physics areas. ARS staff has over 180 years combined experienced in the delivery of consultancy services. In addition, ARS has the expertise and the radiation monitoring equipment to undertake almost any radiation survey. Staff are licensed to undertake compliance testing, radiation safety audits and radiation safety training courses across all Australia's regulatory jurisdictions. Both the technical and consultancy services are also supported by the sales team who offer a wide range of radiation monitoring to suit almost every radiation monitoring application.
The transport of radioactive sources is fraught with difficulties and ARS staff can provide advice, complete transport documentation, perform radiation survey monitoring of radioactive packages prior to shipment. In addition, ARS staff can also transport your radiation sources from your site to their final destination as required.
